Unlocking and Remote Unlocking

Unlocking is a way of allowing your phone to be used on a different network.

We now offer a new service to unlock your phone from the comfort of your own home.

You do not need to send your phone to us, simply send us an email with details about your phone, and we will reply with a price and estimated processing time.

If your phone is not listed for our new remote unlocking service, we may still be able to unlock your phone. Please contact us on 01977 695763 to ask about unlocking your phone. If we cannot unlock your phone using our remote service, you can normally send us your phone and we can unlock it using specialist equipment.

Why are phones locked?

Network providers use locking to ensure that you stay with them for the minimum duration of your monthly contract or Pay As You Go agreement.

If you comply with the provider’s terms and the phone has not been reported a phone can usually be unlocked.

If you breach the terms of a contract, or report a phone as missing or stolen, the provider will block the phone using its unique IMEI code preventing further use. This is called a “blacklisted phone”!

The Phone Doctor can unlock phones that have not been blacklisted so you can choose to change your network and tariff.

The Phone Doctor cannot and will not unlock phones that have been blacklisted

 

What is “Remote Unlocking”?

Remote unlocking allows you to unlock your phone at home without any specialist software or equipment. All you need to do is provide us with some details of the phone, and we can send you instructions to unlock it quickly and easily from the comfort of your own home.

What do I need to do?

  • let us know which phone you have by phone or email, we will reply with a price and estimated timecsale
  • Verify the details are correct
    We cannot refund an unlock with incorrect information
    Remember, there is no need to send us your phone.
  • Pay for the unlock when we send you a request through paypal
  • Wait for confirmation and instructions from us about how to enter your unlock code

If you have any problems with unlocking your phone using the provided instructions, it is very important that you contact us as soon as possible. Some phones have unlock counters that will permanently lock the phone if you try to unlock the phone incorrectly too many times. If this happens, you will need to send the phone to us.

While we try to keep things up to date, unlocking times are estimates and may take a little longer to process than initially stated. We will keep you informed every step of the way

Please be aware that we cannot refund unlock requests if you have provided incorrect details. If you are unsure what details to send us, please feel free to call us on 01977 695763.

If you submit information for a phone that is blacklisted, we will process it as normal, however when you enter the unlock code, you will not be able to make any phone calls. Again, we cannot refund unlocks where the phone has been blacklisted
